Hiring plant in Sandton

Space, not size, is usually the problem on Sandton sites. Jobs include basements for office and apartment towers, swimming pools and extensions on big suburban stands, and service trenches in busy streets, so mini excavators, skid steers and compact TLBs are popular, with tippers timed to load and leave quickly. Underfoot is weathered Johannesburg granite with collapsible sandy soil and boulders, which means breaker attachments and lateral support for deep cuts are common requirements. Storms between October and March can fill a basement in an afternoon, making a pump a sensible extra. Traffic around Rivonia Road and the M1 is heavy, so delivery times are agreed in advance.

  • Housing estates and townships: a civil contractor buying excavators and rollers for services and roads in estates
  • Factories, warehouses and logistics parks: a factory buying forklifts and a loader for its own yard and stockpiles
